The Ah Ha Moment

The ‘Ah Ha’ moment can be transformative.

When was your last ‘ah ha’ moment? You know, that moment in time where everything seems to come into place, all is in alignment-thoughts, goals, intentions, and vision, and life. You know it when it happens because you suddenly experience a sense of calm throughout your inner persona and feel a connection, albeit different than before, with all around you. It changes you. It changes your perception and the actions you will take, words you will say, and decisions you will make.

Often, people come upon such a moment after a critical event (trauma, accident, the death of a loved one, awakening from anesthesia, holding a newborn). Whenever it occurs, it is a solo experience that reaches your mind, body, soul, skin and all senses through and through. It doesn’t last long, but it captures all of you for sure.

Try to reflect on when you ‘got it’ finally and understood what you are struggling with for so long, that just ‘came to you’ and how peaceful you felt. We don’t live this way. And the feelings don’t stay long, but they do give us a glimpse of calm and peace ion our path.
Children sometimes experience it when they have a ‘breakthrough’ with a math or music problem that they have been fighting for so long to understand and get the problem or technique right, then one day, without real effort it’s there, it works, and they are overjoyed! They share their success, and others don’t see it as ‘big’ as they do but acknowledge it just the same. An outsider could never really appreciate another’s ‘ah ha’ moment but could give generic support for the achievement and understanding that is newly discovered by the child.

I recently experienced such an occurrence and felt like “how could I have not seen that all this time…” I spoke about my heightened awareness and surprised a few people close to me, who are trusted and know me very well. Interestingly, they seemed to be aware that the answer was always there, but I couldn’t see, hear, or comprehend it! I have come to believe that this is a way of self-protection and natural resistance to change or doing something different than you are comfortable with.

Change is difficult for most people. No matter how slight, it brings one into a different direction, and the fear of vulnerability or not knowing is daunting. It seems that whenever a change does occur, we are never alone. We need to remember that although scary, it opens new doors of opportunity and thinking, helps us grow and understand ourselves and others better, and may even shift our priorities for a period. Remember,   there is always a community or social group available to support the change. Sometimes it may be as small change; sometimes a larger-than -one-can-imagine change. Either way, support is helpful.

Ultimately, you always have you. The person you know the best and need to nature the most. To live your life with freedom of spirit, and joyfulness in your heart, a bounce in your step and a smile on your face, you need to feed your self first. The thoughts you think, the words you say, the food you eat, the people you associate with, and the actions you take all represent how you see the world and your connection with it. The ‘ah ha’ moment gives you a sliver of conscious mindfulness to experience a new perspective, and you must be ready in body, mind, and spirit to grab it, run with it, and rejoice! Remember, you are never alone. If you feel overwhelmed, stop and breathe and question, “why?” you feel this way. Take a moment to understand yourself and when you need, reach out to a friend. Belief, faith in yourself and your abilities is your first step to understanding and moving forward with the ‘ah ha’ in your spirit and your confidence ready to lead you! Remember it is critical to breathe, pause, and reflect to stay in the moment and be grounded to your intention and growth. You are the best of the best….you need to see it and share it with others as you grow.

So,…go for it! Journal your changes, emotions, and gratitude. Watch and see your life transform so naturally by your hand! Enjoy the experience and knowledge. You are in Charge of the process!
